glass

I started with glass in order to create my own settings for jewelry pieces. The lapidary work I had been doing was providing many beautiful setting options but fused glass seemed to offer the potential for a custom made “stone”. While the custom made stone was my entry point, I’ve moved on to experiment with a number of other forms. Most recently I’ve been using reclaimed float glass (window glass) to make plates. I like the idea that these pieces come from “100% post-consumer waste”. I am now experimenting with larger pieces (bowls mostly) as well as casting. I also discovered etching (using a blast cabinet and pressurized blast medium) and am now experimenting with different etched/blasted surface treatments on a variety of pieces, some of which I make and some commercially produced. There seems to be no end to the possibilities (and things to learn) when working with glass.
